X-Men Red Annual #1 // Review

written by Tom Taylor with art by Pascal Alixe and colors by Chris Sotomayor

The first annual for X-men Red serves to catch us up to Jean getting back in touch with old friend after her resurrection, this book isn’t necessarily a must read for the series but it’s full of great moments with Jean Grey and old friends and new versions of old friends. At this point Jean has been gone for a long time and a lot has happened since she’s been gone so seeing her try to make sense of this new world and where she is gonna fit in works really nice.

Where this issue don’t work is the art department, nothing about the art works with the style of the story and the style that Red has had up to this point. Nothing against the artist or colorists but the style they have just didn’t work for this comic and it took me out of the comic a few time, enough time that it became annoying.

X-Men ares Annual 1 gets a C+ for a solid story and solid writing but art that doesn’t fit along with it.
