Flash #21 "The Button" Review

In the aftermath of last weeks Batman #21, we have a beaten up Batman and a Flash that was too late to stop Reverse Flash...

So now, this issue opens on Barry Allen doing what he does best: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATING

Reverse Flash is dead. It's nice to see Barry taking a moment to appreciate the gravity of this situation. Not only is this the end of a long journey for him (that began with his mother's murder) but it also means that there is something out there that is powerful enough to destroy Reverse Flash.

The plot is thickened in this issue by the reveal that there is an energy signal left on Reverse Flash that is similar to Barry's. We are left to wonder what this means. Barry speculates along with the reader as to whether time travel is involved. Did Barry in fact cause this? Did he kill Reverse Flash?

Barry decides to take things in to his own hands. I won't spoil the ending of the issue but he and Bats are about to have one hell of a trip. The final page of the book has me very excited for the next issue!

I am also lad to see that we are finally folding this story back into Flashpoint! There is a discussion about that event between our heroes but we will definitely be seeing a lot more of that next issue.

I give The Flash #21 an A. I think it is a great issue that shows a peek at Batman and the Flash's relationship with each other and why it works so well. Hint: It's because they both like science! It is also sprinkled with easter eggs for cunning DC fans, so keep a watchful eye and appreciate that Howard Porter art!
