XO Manowar #13 review

XO Manowar #13 review

XO Manowar is by Matt Kindt with art by Ryan Bodenheim and colors by Andrew Dalhouse

XO Manowar serves as a finale to Arics arc on Gorin, and what a perfect sendoff that it is but before Aric can leave Gorin he has one last fight in him. The time has come for Aric to have his big fight with the bounty hunters sent after him and this fight really showcases how excellent of a warrior Aric is in and out of his armor. Ryan Bodenheims’ art really shines during these fight scenes, his draws this book like a big superhero epic you would see from one of the big two publishers, and Andrew Dalhouses colors are very easy on the eyes and work with Bodenheims art excellently.

Everything about this issue works, nothing falls short and this is easily Kindts best issue yet. If we didn’t know that Aric was returning to Earth, I would have thought that this was a series finale. It’s beautiful in ways especially some of the flashback scenes that show why Aric left Earth which was way more emotional than expected.

Arics adventures on Gorin have wrapped up nicely and timely, it would have been easy to keep this story going to the point of overstaying it’s welcome but Kindt is way too good of a writer to let that happen.
